Impotence is the inability to attain and or maintain
an erection sufficient for sexual activity. It's a persistent,
long-term problem that needs proper care and treatment.
Over 100 million men worldwide suffer from some form of
impotence. It's noted that 80-90% of men who suffer from
impotence do not consult a doctor, so they can't be treated
effectively. Impotence is a secondary condition associated
with or brought on by other primary causes.
ED (Erectile Dysfunction) is a medical condition often
caused by associated health problems, including cardiovascular
conditions, trauma, and diabetes. Overall, diabetes is
the single most common condition causing ED. It's estimated
that over 50% of men with diabetes have some form of Erectile
Dysfunction.
Medical research has now divided ED into four general
causes: Physical, Psychological, Mixed origin, and Unknown
origin. Research indicates that roughly 85% of the problem
is associated with a physical cause. This figure includes
a combination of physical impotence with psychological
involvement. Of this majority group, impotence is a result
of something within the body, other than the penis that
is malfunctioning.
Today, most cases of ED can be treated if the patient
seeks out the advice of a doctor.
